Back to the Kitacon – New Website

The GeekOut South-West team will be returning to Kitacon in 2015 for Back to the Kitacon, which we seen the website go live this week! We’ve been very excited to return to Kitacon, so we’ll be joining the adventure that is Back to the Kitacon.

Being hosted once more in the Birmingham Hilton Metropole (just across the road from Birmingham NEC), Kitacon this year is going to go with the theme of time travelling. Exciting stuff! It’ll be back on from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August 2015.

Being hosted once more in the Birmingham Hilton Metropole (just across the road from Birmingham NEC), Kitacon this year is going to go with the theme of time travelling. Exciting stuff! It’ll be back on from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August 2015.

I’ll be walking around the place, approaching cosplayers for pictures and hey: perhaps we’ll go and review some more panels than we did last time? Perhaps more games will be played! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, when can we actually apply for our Kitacon tickets? Ladies and gentlemen, the website launched and gave us a date for the registration process of Kitacon 2015: January 1st at noon. With their partnership with Amecon, which sees Amecon becoming Amechibi this coming year, Kitacon moved to become a summer convention. Smack bang in the middle of summer too!

Let’s not forget that Kitacon also gets some of the most brilliant guests. Last year we had GLaDOS voice actor Ellen McLain and her husband and fellow voice actor John Patrick Lowrie who is known for work such as the Sniper in Team Fortress 2. We also were blessed with the ridiculously amusing and highly talented Professor Elemental, who encourages his audiences to participate in his songs. Seriously, I think everyone in the club that night was jumping around to his adventures of… tea and exploration!

It was also thanks to Kitacon that I got more involved with the great website 1001-Up, who are currently in hiatus as they work towards a brighter future. Shortly after Kitacon, I had my first fellow writer in Joel and we moved to a daily schedule quite quickly! So we have a lot to thank Kitacon for and we’ll no doubt have many of new adventures there.

Costumes?

Part of my Ed costume for Kitacon last year. I'll revisit this costume at a later date with a better arm and more accuracy.

Ah I’ve got a few lined up for this one… And let’s hope I can carry all of these through with me. So then, in order what do I have planned?

Black_star

Black Star – Anyone who has seen Soul Eater will know of Black Star. He’s that loud blue-haired dude with a egotistical attitude. He believes he is the greatest star and the best assassin ever. Sadly, he sort of forgets that an assassin should be quiet. Expect antics with this outfit.

Apollo Justice – I’m getting myself a proper sewing machine and I’ve already started work on this outfit. There’ll be more information on that soon.

Question_mark_(black_on_white)

??? – There’s to be a third costume… But what is it? Time will tell.

I wonder if Joel will get involved with costumes? I invite him to let us know what his plans for this Kitacon is in his own post. Are you planning to come to Kitacon in 2015? Wanna meet up with me or Joel at Kitacon and chat about all things geek? We’d love to see you there! Let us know in the comments below!
