GeekOut Bristol Meet – April 13th: Disney

Disney has been a prominent part of pop culture for nearly a century. In fact, in 7 years time, it’ll be 100 years old. Today, GeekOut Bristol Meet proudly presents to you a majestic Disney-inspired meetup! Whether you’re the Belle of the ball, or if you fancy yourself to be more like Gaston, even though there’s no other like Gaston, come along and show us how you’re as uncanny as Gaston! Oh – and come enjoy a Disney-inspired GeekOut Bristol Meet.

As ever, we believe in nothing more than a great nomming session here at GeekOut South-West, so on Sunday 25th, check out the Meetup and Facebook Event pages. We’ll put up this months poll, which you can vote on if you’re going to join us!

MAIN EVENT: 14:00-Midnight (Old Market Tavern)

If you’re a fan of Disney, have a killer costume you’ve been dying to show off, or if you can’t help but tell everyone to ‘Let it go’, then come and enjoy this month’s GeekOut Bristol Meet theme! We’ll have decorations, that’s for sure!


Food & drink can NOT be brought in with you to the Old Market Tavern. If you are caught with food and drink on the premises, you will be asked to leave until you’ve disposed of your food or drink.

There will be a food menu at Old Market Tavern in the evening! The food is very cheap and it’s absolutely delicious! Food is usually available from 6pm.

Final note: If you are asked for ID by the bar staff, we will not vouch for your age – You must provide ID.

We will bring a new game for this meetup as well, so watch this space, we’ll announce what it is one week before the event!

COSPLAYERS (Group Cosplay Picture: 9pm)

Come along dressed as your favourite Disney character! We’ll take a group photo at 9pm. We’ll get a snap of you as soon as you’d like which will go on our site, too. We’re looking for fine Disney Villains, Princes and Princesses to make this event truly magical.

*CHANGING FACILITIES* If you want to change into a costume when here, please note there are no changing facilities. There are just standard toilet cubicles – Which are fine to change in, but you might want to consider this first.

COMPETITION: Disney Heroes & Villains (Deadline 9pm)

Another month has come by and so we’re going to show you the world. We’re going to make a man out of you and we’re going to look for the bear necessiti– I should stop quoting Disney songs already!

This month, we’re going to go back to you, the GeekOut Bristol Meet audience, where we’re going to get you to create some brand new Disney Heroes & Villains. We’ll be providing a base sheet for you to work off, which will let you come up with a simple enough way to design your very own Disney-inspired hero or villain.

1st Place: £25 Cash, TBC, GeekOut Poster of your choice
2nd Place: £15 Cash, TBC, GeekOut Poster of your choice
3rd Place: £10 Cash, TBC, GeekOut Poster of your choice

We’ll be announcing what the TBC prizes are via comments on both the Meetup and Facebook event pages. We’ll be announcing one per week, so keep your eyes peeled!

As part of our commitment to being a great night out, we do not discriminate based upon age, gender, race, religion or sexuality. If at any point you feel you need to speak to someone about another’s actions, please grab the host (Timlah) and we’ll sort it out!
