Bristol Comic Con and Gaming Festival – 30th March 2019

Last year, we wrote about a relative newcomer to the comic con scene, with the Bristol Comic Con and Gaming Festival. After a successful first year here in Bristol, it looks like they’re back for another outing. As such, I figured it’d be a good time to check out what the event has coming up this year, as well as ticket prices and more. So, if you’re looking for a fun event in Bristol in the next few months, then come check this out. I’m sure it’ll be even better than the last one!

What Is It?

Bristol Comic Con and Gaming Festival is part of a group of events known as Moose Events UK. With events taking place in Bristol, Dorset, Somerset, Plymouth, Devon and more, the group are a well established part of the UK Comic Convention scene. Last year was the inaugral event for their now annual Bristol events, meaning this event will likely be shaped more in the coming years. Their first year went down really well, with a lot of the folks who come to GeekOut Bristol Meet saying they had a good time at the event last year. Fingers crossed that this year’s event will be equally fun!

Bristol Comic Con and Gaming Festival is an event for everyone to celebrate the best in comics and gaming, as well as films and more. As well as this, The Wizards Gathering will be taking place this year – So if you’re a big Harry Potter fan, then go and check them out! They’ll be having panels, photoshoots and much more. Furthermore, for all of the Potter fans out there, one of the advertised guests for this year was on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, as well as Deathly Hallows (part 1).

Where Is It?

Taking place in Action Indoor Sports – Bristol, the event is set in a spacious venue. More information about the venue can be found on their official website. You can check out the venue location below:

How Much Is It?

Currently the event is doing an early bird special, so you might want to grab yourself a ticket early before prices increase. The early bird tickets are £7 for an adult and £4 for a child. After the early bird tickets are all sold out, the prices will raise to £8 for an adult and £5 for a child. There’ll also be tickets on the door for £10 for an adult and £5 for a child. Children under 6 to free, child tickets are between the age of 6-13 and then 14 and over are considered to be adults. Buy early for a good discount!

Knowing how well the event went last year, I have no doubt this year will be the same. If you’re looking for a fun day out, for a really good price, then I’d seriously recommend checking the event out. If you want to know more information about the event, please check out their Facebook Event page. Go and buy yourself an early bird ticket and support this local event – I might see if I can make it down there myself this year to nab a few pictures. As ever, share your thoughts with us in the comments below, or over on Facebook and Twitter.

I wondered if you had any information on what the comic side is like . Are there many dealers tables. Not really interested in gaming or cosplay

As an elderly geek (57) it would be nice to have something like the old comic expo back in bristol

    • I feel the most reasoned response I can give is that comics, whilst will undoubtedly be present, won’t be the main focus. There’ll be a lot of things like cars from various series, but there won’t necessarily be a vast array of comics, but rather some stands should be present (and you can bet some of the comic stands will be manga, as opposed to marvel/dc/independents/etc)

Overall, I think it should be a fun experience, and if the comic expo you’re talking of is the one that used to be over by Temple Meads, then it’ll be similar, albeit with a larger gaming and cosplay section than that expo.

I hope this gives you some clarity, but of course, if you have any other questions, fire away :) I’m always glad to help a fellow Bristolian geek!
