Another year has passed us by and GameBlast is upon us again. Our friends Kim and Pete over at Later Levels are hard at work preparing a massive stream filled with a variety of games for a whopping 24-hour game fest. I’m always spurred on by these kinds of initiatives, so naturally I wanted to help out in any way I could. Now that GameBlast is tomorrow, we’ve arranged how we fit into all of this!
Taken directly from the Later Levels website:
“Committed gamers Later Levels are gearing up to burn the midnight gaming oil from Saturday, 23 to Sunday, 24 February 2019 to raise money for people with disabilities.”
The event will start at 08:00 GMT on Saturday, 23rd February 2019, until 08:00 GMT on Sunday, 24th February 2019. During this time, the Later Levels crew consisting of Kim and Pete will be playing a plethora of games, as chosen by their fans and readers in the build-up to GameBlast19. Kim has taken part in all of the previous GameBlast’s, which is no simple task – It’s dedication and hard work.
Having helped with a GameBlast back in 2016, in which I was doing an indie and hobbyist game session at crazy o’clock, I know what this is like. It’s not easy; there are hours of tests, hours of prep for the games, to ensure they’re working and the stream is set up correctly. Kim and Pete will be sharing their passion for video games over on the Later Levels Twitch channel. Check them out tomorrow, 23rd February!
I will be getting involved with GameBlast19, by taking part in a side-stream of sorts. Originally, the goal was to get involved with the games that Later Levels are playing – But the logistics of it just wasn’t possible. Therefore, due to our recently found addiction for the game, I will be joined by my fiance Jake, where we will be playing Elder Scrolls Online for a ridiculous amount of time. We won’t promise 24-hours straight, but we’ll at least be on the game for 12-16 hours likely. Yeah, it’s a bit of a tall order, but we’re up for attempting it!
The goal for our stream is to help raise awareness for GameBlast19, which will hopefully translate to some donations for the charity SpecialEffect. If you’ve never heard about them before, they work to provide some amazing technology to those with disabilities that prevents them from enjoying what we all enjoy – Video games. The fun, social aspect of games are better shared with everyone, so SpecialEffect work to bring the inclusion back to those who would otherwise be missing out.
If you’ve never seen Elder Scrolls Online, or if you’d like to just watch and support me and Jake, please check out my totally-always-busy-stream* right here.
*Please note, my stream will not be busy whatsoever, so if you just wanna say hey, please do come by!
So yeah, that’s it, join us tomorrow over on my personal Twitch.tv page; or check out a larger variety of games over on the Later Levels channel. Finally, don’t forget to throw a couple of quid over to the Later Levels fundraiser for GameBlast19. If you’re gonna check one of us out, let me know in the comments below, or over on Facebook and Twitter.
