GeekOut Bristol Meet – April 13th: Superhero Assembly
Never fear, for GeekOut Bristol Meet is here!
We’re back with action-packed superhero antics. If you’re a fan of Marvel, DC, Independents, or hey even superhero anime/manga, then you’re catered for here! Oh and if you’re not a big superhero fan, don’t worry, we’re still all about the games!
FOODIE PRE-MEET POLL PENDING (TBC):
Wanna grab some grub with us before the event? Great! We’ll be up for a feast before the event, so let us know on Sunday 24th where we should eat before GeekOut. Poll pending.
MAIN EVENT: 14:00-Midnight (Old Market Tavern)
Put on your best superheroic face, wear your best superheroic clothes and let’s get superheroic (I’m never saying that word again). Join us for a night of fun and games, with a heroic spin.
Food & drink can NOT be brought in with you to the Old Market Tavern. If you are caught with food and drink on the premises, you will be asked to leave until you’ve disposed of your food or drink.
There will be a food menu at Old Market Tavern in the evening! The food is cheap and it’s delicious – usually available from 6pm.
Final note: If you are asked for ID by the bar staff, we will not vouch for your age – You must provide ID.
BOARD GAMES (& a dash of video games)
As always, we’ll have a large selection of board games available, so please do check out what we have:
– Bears vs Babies
– Binding of Isaac: Four Souls
– Bucket of Doom
– Cards Against Humanity
– Cash n Guns
– Exploding Kittens
– Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit
– Jungle Speed
– Love Letter
– Pokemon Monopoly
– Rogues to Riches
– Three Wishes
– Unusual Suspects
AND MANY MORE!
We won’t be bringing every game listed above with us: If there’s a specific game you want to see, please let me know in the comments below.
We will be seeking out new game/s for this month’s meet. Once we know what it is, we’ll announce it in the comments.
You know what this one’s about. This is your chance to wear spandex in public! Or, perhaps you’re feeling a little rebellious and want to show the villain within? Come along in cosplay folk, we’ll snap some shots of you!
*CHANGING FACILITIES* If you want to change into a costume when here, please note there are no changing facilities. There are just standard toilet cubicles – Which are fine to change in, but you might want to consider this first.
COMPETITION: The Symbol of (In)Justice
Are you a law-abiding hero? Perhaps you’re a dastardly villain looking to spoil the fun of the superheroes? Whatever you are, think carefully – All super-somethings have a symbol to represent themselves.
Think about it. Superman has his S and Batman has his bat. Spiderman has his spider and Captain Marvel has her 8-pointed star. Now it’s up for you to design a totally unique symbol for your own personal brand of superheroics (I lied about never saying that word again), or supervillainy.
- No plagiarism
- You’ll need to provide a brief 1-paragraph description of your super (max 100 words).
You will be judged on how accurate the symbol portrays your characters description, as well as the design work and the detail put in.
Complex is not the same as detail, by the by.
I’ll be putting up a worksheet for everyone to use, which will be printed off and brought to the venue. We will have pencils and coloured pencils. The more effort put in, the better – And yes, you can prepare your sheet in advance and even make your own custom sheet.
1st Place: £25, a GeekOut poster and first dibs on a physical prize.
2nd Place: £15, a GeekOut poster and second dibs on a physical prize.
3rd Place: £10, a GeekOut poster and whatever’s left of the physical prizes.
Physical Prizes: TBC (imagine it’ll be something superheroic (oh that damn word, again)!)
As part of our commitment to being a great night out, we do not discriminate based upon age (although our min age requirement is venue policy), disability, gender, race, religion or sexuality. If at any point you feel you need to speak to someone about another’s actions, please grab the host (Timlah) and we’ll sort it out!
