Our Reflection on 2018

2018 has been a year in which Joel and I have worked exceptionally hard – And I think every single one of you will have had a similar experience. You’ve all likely done something, or something happened to you in this year, which has changed you or changed the way you do something. This year hasn’t exactly been a barrel of laughs all the time, but it’s also not exactly been a bad year for us. I’ve got some fond memories from this year, which I hope to use to propel us as a website, us as a group and even myself as a creator further. Today, we’re just going to share what we think we’ve achieved this year – and hopefully you’ll be as proud of us as we are of the work we’ve put in.

Anime Review: Goblin Slayer

With a name like Goblin Slayer, you’d expect this to be a relatively simple little anime. You know, you have a protagonist who goes around and slays some little green-skinned humanoid creatures, which fight in packs – Sounds about right? Well, that’s exactly what you get… Except, when you think of the term “Goblin Slayer”, you expect some early level stuff in an RPG. You think of a protagonist killing creatures and getting a lot of gold for it. Again, you get just that and a lot more in Goblin Slayer. If that’s whetted your appetite for the surprise ahead, then read on for more.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind Now Airing On Crunchyroll

JoJo fans rejoice, as nearly two years after the last episode of Diamond is Unbreakable, the fifth Arc has finally begun! The new season started airing this past Friday (5th October 2018), which means we’re set for a good number of weeks! We’re about to see new stands, even more outlandish and crazy outfits than ever and, of course, another JoJo! Uh, except this one isn’t really a JoJo, he’s more of a GioGio – More on that later in the article. For now though, let’s check out what this arc is all about, the returning cast and of course, some of the new cast we can expect to see. There may be minor plot spoilers for the first episode, as well as some very light arc wide spoilers, so long as this arc follows the manga.

GeekOut Bristol Meet – September 8th: Harry Potter’s GeekOut Return

Another GeekOut Bristol Meet has come and gone, but don’t be dismayed, we’ll be back next month. Whilst there were a number of Muggles about the Old Market Tavern, the venue helped us put on a magical event. There were plenty of Hogwarts House special drinks, one for each house, as well as a returning favourite in Butterbeer. Check below for some of our pictures of the event, as well as some preliminary information about when the next one’s going to go live.

Video Game Review: Noahmund

Noahmund is a Fantasy RPG, set in the world of Feros, a war wages on. Love, fear and fire as they say, the game follows in our protagonist, Galina Angstroud, an agent of Shinn who is on a quest for truth and salvation. I’ve had some time with the game since last week and gotten far through it – So what did I make of this new indie title? Were the characters captivating, or just chatty? All of that and more revealed below.

Magic: the Gathering Arena Closed Beta – First Impressions

Last week, Wizards of the Coast were looking for people to stress test their latest video game endeavour. Many people were granted access to a closed beta, to which Wizards gave out keys to the beta testers, which they can hand to 5 other people. I was fortunate enough to have Jake give me a key, so I was able to take part in the stress test. Before that though, I got to know the game a bit – So, here are my first thoughts of Magic: the Gathering Arena.

Discord’s New Games Hub Update

For those of you who have used Discord at some point in time, you may have heard that an update that came in last week introduced a Games Tab. This hub gives convenient quick links to all of your favourite titles that you’ve got installed. Further to that, it gives you news and an insight as to what all of your friends are up to in the world of video games. Having now used it for a number of days, there are a few things I’ve got to say about it: some positive, some… not so much.

UKGE 2018 – Kickstarters – Part 2

The phrase ‘so nice we will do it twice‘ comes to mind. Yep, I’m back with five more projects that I saw at UK Games Expo that will be on Kickstarter in the future, games that I declare are worth looking at. What do you mean you didn’t read Part 1? Go do so now and come back. For the rest of you, I’ve rambled enough, it’s time to kickstart this post into action (see what I did there?).
