With a “Ni”, our knights gathered around for an evening of fun and games, a hugely crafty competition and a lot of games across the board. From our typically large selection of games, through to a special drink presented to our noble warriors, we had a blast. September’s a strange time of year; a lot of folk are back to the grind after the summer holidays, the weather doesn’t quite know what to do with itself, it’s all a bit muddled. Thankfully though, we were there for another month, hopefully allowing people to get some much needed geeky familiarity within the Old Market Tavern.
Bristol-based knights, on your horses, for this month’s event we’re getting all defensive. Gather your best steed, steel your swords and let’s take on those bad guys… Over a board game or two!
Another month has gone by and another gallery post! Yes, we got together, we spoke all about anime and we shared our love for the medium. There were people who travelled from far and wide, as well as a couple of costumed people to accompany. We also had a competition where we saw some incredible art drawn by the friends of GeekOut. With a good gathering of geeks, drinks were a-flowing and of course, we had plenty of games to play. So with all that said, let’s take a look at the images that makes up yesterday’s GeekOut Bristol Meet.
You know who loves anime? We do.
We love anime so much that we’re dedicating this event to anime. Join in with our anime-themed competition, wear your favourite cosplays and let’s chat anime over a board game.
Every month I like to do these roundups, as a way to show people that hey, there are people out there who like to game. This month was a quieter affair for us, but it’s just as well as it was also the day before Bristol Pride, meaning the bar was pretty damn busy at points. Nevertheless, we had a great night out with plenty of games. Lots of people interacted with us, discussing games and getting involved in the quiz which had 14 entries – All in all, a successful night. Here’s how the day went and a few quick bits of information about next month’s event.
A 60-90 minute long game, made by an experienced gamer for experienced gamers? Nice! However I really do love a board game that comes with nicely crafted pieces and thankfully, that’s exactly what we’ve got today. The Isle of Cats by Frank West looks like a wonderful, simple experience with a lot of complexities added in. With a standard game mode and even a solo game mode, these cats are sure to keep you company. With a beautifully presented box, what do we make of The Isle of Cats Kickstarter Campaign?
Brits don’t really give themselves enough credit. There are so many fun, quirky and creative geek things that we’ve done, that in this event, we’re going to celebrate being a British geek. Come along, share your thoughts of what being a British geek is all about and join in with our competition!
Another event has now come and gone, as swiftly as a Pidgeot. Whenever a GeekOut Bristol Meet comes to a close, I like to reflect upon the events of the night. The competition, the prizes, the people and the conversations. Even the weather is worth mentioning from time to time, so in this month’s gallery, here’s a quick rundown of what happened, how the night went and most importantly, some information regarding our next event. Oh, of course, we also have a bunch of pictures to share with you lovely lot. As ever, this is our gallery of this month’s GeekOut Bristol Meet.
