Those of you who have followed us for a while will be keenly aware of our love and usage of Meetup.com, a website which brings people together via very clever marketing. New groups get great emphasis and you can see all Meetups people have signed up to, giving much needed exposure for all groups. However, in December 2017, Meetup.com took an interesting turn in design and methodology.
A ‘smaller’ GeekOut Bristol Meetup took place on New Years Eve, to celebrate in the new year. Each time the year adds a one to its digits column, you know you need to do something that’s bigger and better than the year before. It’s like an incredible race to be as good as you can be – But we often get waylayed by unforeseen circumstance, or we just get bored of making the best of ourselves. It’s inevitable for us as humans to do this too… But that’s not necessarily a bad thing! So, for one day of the year only, we forget all about everything we know and love… We stop working, we get to a party, or we have a quiet indoors affair, snuggle up as best we can and just enjoy the fireworks: Literally.
With a ho, ho, ho and a he, he, he we all got together for another GeekOut Bristol Meet that came and went lightning fast. But as always, we extended upon what we already do well and made it bigger and better. Getting a wonderful crowd of 65 or more, we had Santa hats everywhere for a second year running and now some new games and more. Now we’ve finished meetups for this year, except for the last one that happens on the 31st of December, our New Years Eve special event. Read on for our gallery!
