Every month I like to do these roundups, as a way to show people that hey, there are people out there who like to game. This month was a quieter affair for us, but it’s just as well as it was also the day before Bristol Pride, meaning the bar was pretty damn busy at points. Nevertheless, we had a great night out with plenty of games. Lots of people interacted with us, discussing games and getting involved in the quiz which had 14 entries – All in all, a successful night. Here’s how the day went and a few quick bits of information about next month’s event.
Brits don’t really give themselves enough credit. There are so many fun, quirky and creative geek things that we’ve done, that in this event, we’re going to celebrate being a British geek. Come along, share your thoughts of what being a British geek is all about and join in with our competition!
Never fear, for GeekOut Bristol Meet is here!
We’re back with action-packed superhero antics. If you’re a fan of Marvel, DC, Independents, or hey even superhero anime/manga, then you’re catered for here! Oh and if you’re not a big superhero fan, don’t worry, we’re still all about the games!
Whilst the skies above decided to put a dampener on the day, those of us who braved the elements had a night of fun and games at the Old Market Tavern. We went for a great pre-meetup over at Wagamama’s in Cabot, before heading down to our friends in the Old Market Tavern, for plenty of board games and a night of writing. Whilst it was another fun event, people were pretty excited about an announcement I made about one of the prizes for next month’s competition, which is going to be a pretty big competition to get through. For a spoiler for next month as well as what happened this month, read on!
With that, 2019 was off to a flying start. The geeks of Bristol got together once more, playing plenty of games, drinking and enjoying the warm comforting familiarity of the Old Market Tavern. A huge thanks to the bar staff for another welcoming event, where we decided to see what sorts of plans people had for the year. We had a few great entries for the competition, as well as a new game that we brought along and played. As ever, join us for a look back at this month’s GeekOut Bristol Meet.
Every month, we hold a GeekOut Bristol Meet and GeekOut Shrewsbury Meet. These events are held to celebrate all within geek culture. We’re really open to meeting everyone, regardless of who they are. We ask that everyone who joins us is respectful to one another, which our events are always considered to be good fun. We have our own little internal memes of sorts, which you can get involved with pretty quickly. This month, GeekOut Bristol Meet is going to celebrate the new year’s resolutions that everyone has made – And most importantly, the geeky way they’re going to implement their new year’s resolutions.
With the presence of Christmas so near, it’s only fair that we started to give out a few more presents. The attendees of Friday night’s GeekOut Bristol meet would be very aware of the presents that were being handed out; if people took part in our competition which was absolutely packed, they were all in with a chance of getting a present. All they had to do was answer one question correctly… Unfortunately, I was the one who made the questions, which proved to be pretty tricky. Still, there were Santa hats and more this past Friday, so check out what happened at our fun little event!
It’s that time of year once more, where the horrifying, the dead and the damned become a part of our every day. Here at GeekOut Bristol, we like to celebrate Halloween a little bit early, so come and join us for our Spectre-Waltz!
